Mark Wegman

Hi,
I was born in Manhattan on Nov. 17 1949. I lived the first 5 years of my life in Brooklyn, the next 15 in Freeport (in Nassau  County, NY), the next 4, while attending NYU, in Manhattan, then 4 years at Berkeley, and the remainder in Westchester,  while working at IBM Research. I am married to Dana Wegman. We have two pets, Ruby Tuesday (a dog), and New Small  Kitty (who is no longer a kitty).

When I was 8 I decided to become a scientist. I will probably re-examine this decision when I grow up.

I manage a group at IBM, which works on improving programmer productivity.

In addition to programmer productivity, my professional interest include: compiler technologies and programming languages,  algorithm design, and information theory. I've written papers on these topics.

My work phone number is (914) 784-7809, home (914) 941-8581
I can also be reached as Wegman on the domain Watson.ibm.com.

I am currently General Chair of POPL 1900 (or was that 2000?).
