This web page lists the quickest mates I have been able to find playing the OS2 chess program.
The chess program which comes with OS2 is far from perfect. (A better OS2 chess program is the freeware UChess 1.17 ). Nevertheless I found it quite interesting to search for the quickest possible wins (mates) after each of the 20 possible first moves for white.
Rules: Use strongest setting ("advanced") and do not select a book opening. Find the quickest wins (mates) after each of the 20 possible first moves for white and as black. Variations in which OS2 chess does not obey the rules of chess are not eligible. My best results appear below.
a3 - 12 moves a4 - 12 moves
b3 - 11 moves b4 - 14 moves
c3 - 11 moves c4 - 12 moves
d3 - 12 moves d4 - 12 moves
e3 - 11 moves e4 - 11 moves
f3 - 13 moves f4 - 11 moves
g3 - 12 moves g4 - 15 moves
h3 - 12 moves h4 - 11 moves
na3 - 12 moves nc3 - 11 moves
nf3 - 11 moves nh3 - 12 moves
black - 11 moves
