Professional Background
|
Venkata Subramaniam is a Research Staff Member at the IBM India Research Lab (IRL), Delhi.
He is with the Life Sciences
Group working on developing Biological Knowledge Discovery
Infrastructure. Biomedical text plays a fundamental role in knowledge discovery
in life sciences, in both basic research (in the field of bioinformatics)
and in industry sectors devoted to improving medical practice, drug development,
and health care (such as medical informatics, clinical genomics, and other
sectors). He is working on techniques to mine these documents to enable
knowledge discovery.
His current research interests include unstructured information management,
statistical natural language processing, text and data mining and their
applications to bioinformatics. In the past he has worked on audio visual
speech recognition and information theory and coding theory.
