Biographical sketch of author

Bran Selic  Malina Software Corporation, 10 Blueridge Court, Nepean, Ontario, Canada K2J 2J3 (bran.selic@gmail.com). Mr. Selic is the president of Malina Software Corp., a company that provides software consulting services to some of the world's top technology companies. In 2007, he retired from IBM Canada, where he was a Distinguished Engineer and was responsible for defining the Rational® software development tools strategy. He is also an adjunct professor of computer science at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada. He has more than 35 years of practical experience in designing and implementing large-scale industrial software systems and has pioneered the application of model-driven development methods in real-time and embedded applications. He is currently chair of the Object Management Group committee responsible for the UML 2 standard. He received his Dipl.Ing degree in 1972 and his Mag.Ing degree in 1974, both from the University of Belgrade in Yugoslavia.
