Biographical sketches of authors

Yonit Magid  IBM Research Division, Haifa Research Lab, Haifa University Campus, Haifa 31905, Israel (yonit@il.ibm.com). Ms. Magid is a Research Staff Member in the Software and Services department at the Haifa Research Lab. She holds B.Sc. (1999) and M.Sc. (2007) degrees in computer science from Technion, Israel Institute of Technology. Her previous work experience includes three years as a member of a software-hardware integration group, where she developed various tools (such as emulation boards and test generators) in support of the hardware development life cycle.

David Oren  IBM Research Division, Haifa Research Lab, Haifa University Campus, Haifa 31905, Israel (doren@il.ibm.com). Mr. Oren is a Research Staff Member in the Software and Services department at the IBM Haifa Research Lab. He received a B.Sc. degree in computer science, mathematics, and physics from the Hebrew University, Jerusalem, in 1996, and an M.Sc. degree in computer science from Tel-Aviv University in 2002. Previous to his joining the Haifa Research Lab in 2002, he spent several years developing command-and-control systems for naval applications.

David Botzer  IBM Research Division, Haifa Research Lab, Haifa University Campus, Haifa 31905, Israel (botzer@il.ibm.com). Dr. Botzer holds B.Sc. (computer science, 1990), M.Sc. (operations research, 1992) and Ph.D. (1999) degrees from Technion, Israel Institute of Technology. Between 1992 and 1999 he served as researcher and software developer in the Israeli Navy. He joined the IBM Haifa Research Lab in 1999 and was a member of the IBM Active Middleware Technology team. Since 2006, he has managed the Software Tools and Event-Based Systems department.

Asaf Adi  IBM Research Division, Haifa Research Lab, Haifa University Campus, Haifa 31905, Israel (adi@il.ibm.com). Dr. Adi is manager of the Event-based Middleware and Solutions group at the IBM Haifa Research Lab. He holds B.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from Technion, Israel Institute of Technology. His current research focuses on active systems, complex-event processing, active databases, and real-time systems.

Boris Shulman  IBM Research Division, Haifa Research Lab, Haifa University Campus, Haifa 31905, Israel (shulmanb@gmail.com). Since 2002, Mr. Shulman has been a Research Staff Member in the Software Tools and Event-based Systems department at the IBM Haifa Research Lab. He received B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in information systems from Technion, Israel Institute of Technology, in 2002 and 2005, respectively. His current research focuses on event-processing systems.

Ella Rabinovich  IBM Research Division, Haifa Research Lab, Haifa University Campus, Haifa 31905, Israel (ellak@il.ibm.com). Since 2003, Ms. Rabinovich has been a Research Staff Member in the Software Tools and Event-Based Systems department at the IBM Haifa Research Lab. She received a B.Sc. degree in information systems engineering from Technion, Israel Institute of Technology, in 2006. Her current research focuses on system verification and event-based technologies.

Maya Barnea  IBM Research Division, Haifa Research Lab, Haifa University Campus, Haifa 31905, Israel (mayab@il.ibm.com). Ms. Barnea is a Research Staff Member in the Software Tools and Event-Based Systems department at the IBM Haifa Research Lab. She received a B.Sc. degree in mathematics and computer science from the Haifa University in 1995. Since she joined the Haifa Research Lab in 2003, she has worked mainly in application development tools and event processing systems.
