Biographical sketch of author

Lance Walker  IBM Corporate Headquarters, 6300 Diagonal Highway, Boulder CO 80301 (lancew@us.ibm.com). Mr. Walker, a Distinguished Engineer, has application architecture responsibilities for several areas within the IBM enterprise architecture. He is chief architect for IBM internal integration architecture and also project lead for the corporate initiative to embed SOA into the IBM internal architecture. Previously, he led a number of CIO application architecture initiatives, such as the Isolation Layer Framework, which pioneered a service framework before the ascendance of SOA. He has Master's degrees in computer information systems and in telecommunications from the University of Denver, and in mechanical engineering from the University of Colorado. He is an IBM Certified Architect.
