Biographical sketches of authors

Jim Christensen  IBM Research Division, 19 Skyline Dr., Hawthorne, NY 10532 (ibmjim@us.ibm.com). Mr. Christensen has spent several years working in the IBM Research Division at the Thomas J. Watson Research Center, most recently on a joint project with the IBM CIO and CoE (Center of Excellence) on the IBM internal audio communication service known as Rendezvous or IBM Enhanced Audio Conferencing. His background is in software engineering and he has focused his career on applying and extending new technologies to help people get things done. He has B.S. and M.S. degrees in computer science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Bob Hughes  IBM CHQ, Enterprise on Demand, 294 Route 100, Somers, NY 10589 (rchughes@us.ibm.com). Mr. Hughes is currently in the IBM CIO office in the Infrastructure Strategy and Enterprise Architecture group with specific responsibility for voice strategy and SOA infrastructure. Having been involved in new voice technologies for many years, he has provided direction for the internal adoption of the new voice at IBM from the initial IP phone and IP transport phase through the current efforts toward integrating voice with applications. Prior to joining IBM, he managed voice and data networking globally for Avon Products and Emery Air Freight. He has a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and an M.B.A. degree in finance and organizational behavior from the University of Michigan.
