David Small
MIT Media Laboratory, 20 Ames Street, Cambridge, Massachusetts 02139-4307 (electronic mail: dsmall@media.mit.edu). Mr. Small is a doctoral candidate at the MIT Media Laboratory where his research focuses on the display and manipulation of visual information. He received a B.S. degree in 1987 and an M.S. degree in 1990 from MIT. His study interests are in the area of dynamic typography in three-dimensional landscapes, and research in the design of complex information environments has led him to construct novel physical interfaces for manipulating virtual objects. Mr. Small's work has appeared in Scientific American, Print, Communication Arts, the Atlantic Monthly, I.D. magazine's 42nd Annual Design Review, and the book Information Architects. His work is also visible at the World Wide Web site
