Metcalf Professor of Science and Engineering at Boston University, where he served as Dean of the College of Engineering from 1990 to 2000. He is also a former director of the Department of Energy Health and Environmental Research Programs and a current Fellow of the AAAS and the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineers.
