Edward J. Nowak
IBM Microelectronics Division, 1000 River Road, Essex Junction, Vermont 05452 (ejnowak@us.ibm.com). Dr. Nowak is a Senior Technical Staff Member in the CMOS Process Development Group. He received a B.S. degree in physics from M.I.T. in 1973, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in physics from the University of Maryland in 1974 and 1978, respectively. Following postdoctoral research at New York University, he joined IBM in Essex Junction in 1981 to work on memory device and process development. In 1985 he turned to high-speed CMOS logic devices, spanning 1-µm to 50-nm device designs. Dr. Nowak's current research interests are in double-gate CMOS and low-power CMOS. He is an author or coauthor of more than 50 U.S. patents and more than 40 technical papers and a book in the areas of VLSI technology and design. Dr. Nowak is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the American Physical Society.
