Q. How do I change my address? (non-IBM employee)
A. Send a note with your new postal mailing address and your account number, which can be found on your mailing label above your name, to solanto@us.ibm.com.
Q. How do I change my address? (IBM employee)
A. Our subscription database reads IBM employees' home addresses from the CERIS (HR) database. The only way to change your subscription address is to change your home address through HR. Please use the "About You" Web site on the IBM Intranet at https://w3-1.ibm.com/hr/americas/aboutyou/launch.html. You'll be prompted for your Intranet password. The change usually takes about 3 months to ripple through to our systems.
Q. How do I cancel my subscription?
A. Send a note to solanto@us.ibm.com with your mailing address and your account number, which can be found on your mailing label above your name. Please include which Journal you would like to cancel.
Q. Are there any refunds for cancelled subscriptions?
A. No, there are no refunds for cancelled subscriptions, either in whole or in part.
Q. My company has an account with IBM. Can I get a discounted subscription?
A. Yes, you may be entitled to a discount. IBM Customers in the United States and Canada are encouraged to ask their account representative to send a note to solanto@us.ibm.com with their Customer number. Discounts are not available for IBM Customers outside of the US and Canada.
Q. I am an IBM employee in the United States. How do I subscribe and is there a charge?
A. To subscribe to the IBM Systems Journal or the IBM Journal of Research and Development, please visit our IBM United States employee subscription site on the IBM Intranet at http://fin2.watson.ibm.com/journal/. Your subscription will be sent to your home address listed in the CERIS database. There is no charge for IBM employees in the United States.
Q. I am a new IBM employee in the United States. Why is my serial number not recognized by your employee subscription site?
A. It usually takes at least 3-4 months for all the proper data feeds to be updated for our subscription system to recognize your serial number.
Q. I am an IBM employee outside the United States. Am I eligible for a free or discounted subscription?
A. IBM employees outside the US and Canada must directly pay for subscriptions to the IBM Journals and be reimbursed by their department as allowed. Subscriptions are easily made by credit card through the Subscribe/Order page.

Q. How do I search or view back issues of the Journals?
A. You can now search and browse all the IBM Journals' abstracts, titles, and authors back to Volume 1 by utilizing the "Search Journal Archives" button found in the left-side navigation bar. PDFs of all articles are available. To access them, use the "Search Journal Archives" button found in the left-side navigation on the home page, then search or browse to view the abstract. From that view, you'll find a link to the PDF at the top.
Q. How do I order a back issue? (inside US but not IBM employee)
A. Please visit the IBM Publications Center. This is their home page: http://www.elink.ibmlink.ibm.com/public/applications/publications/cgibin/pbi.cgi?. You'll need to search by publication number.
Q. How do I order a back issue? (International IBM employee and non-IBM employee)
A. You can find prices on the Subscribe/Order page. To place an order, please fax your full postal mailing address, credit card number including expiration date, and issue desired to (914) 945-2018, or call (914) 945-3836 to speak with our circulation specialist and place your order. Q. How do I order a back issue? (US IBM employee)

The copies will be charged to your department. You can also request a subscription here: http://fin2.watson.ibm.com/journal/.
Q. How do I order a back issue? (Canadian IBM employee)
A. Please enter IBMP on your VM command line and follow the instructions.
Q. Do you provide free sample copies of the Journals?
A. Because all of our content is available on our Web site, we don't provide sample copies. The PDF version looks exactly like the print version. For subscribing instructions or to subscribe online using a credit card, please visit our Subscribe/Order pages.

Q. How do I submit a paper for publication in the IBM Technical Journals?
A. To submit a paper for consideration to the IBM Technical Journals, please see the Author's Guide for the IBM Systems Journal http://www.research.ibm.com/journal/sjauth.html or the IBM Journal of Research and Development at http://www.research.ibm.com/journal/rdauth.html. You can also contact our Editor-in-Chief, John Ritsko, at ritsko@us.ibm.com.
Q. Do you grant permission to republish figures in other publications?
A. If you send an e-mail to our Editor-in-Chief, John Ritsko, at ritsko@us.ibm.com and name a specific figure in a specific paper and provide the exact details of the work in which it will be published, we can grant permission.

Q. What does an issue marked "Early Papers" mean?
A. We usually publish papers online ahead of the print version. An issue marked "Early papers" has some Web-published papers but is not available in print yet.
Q. Is there a fee for online access to the Journals?
A. Online access to the IBM Technical Journals is free to all, no subscription necessary.
Q. How do I search or view back issues of the Journals?
A. You can search and browse all the IBM Journals' abstracts, titles, and authors back to Volume 1 by using the "Search Journal Archives" button found in the left-side navigation bar. Q. I'm having trouble viewing PDF versions of articles. Any suggestions?
A. Some of the files are quite large and will take extra time to download, especially with a modem. Also try saving the file to disk (right-click on the link and select "Save target as" or "Save link as") and opening it from within the Adobe Acrobat Reader application, rather than a browser plug-in. The Reader is available for download for free from Adobe: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep.html.

A. We don't publish advertising of any kind, neither in our print publications nor our Web site.
Q. WIll you review my company's software product?
A. The IBM Technical Journals do not review software products.
Q. Do you rent your subscription list?
A. We don't rent our subscription lists in any way.
Q. Do you publish a CD-ROM version of the Journals?
A. The IBM Technical Journals are published only in print and online versions, not CD-ROM.

A. Please direct your comments or questions about specific papers to the authors of the paper you are referring to. You can find their e-mail addresses in their biographical sketches, which you can access by clicking on their last name, or at the end of the paper if you are viewing the PDF.
