Visual Venture: Investigations with Images and Videos for Middle School Education
Lisa M. Brown
IEEE Conf. on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition, Hilton Head, SC,
June 13-15, 2000, Vol 2, pp. 792-793.

A software tool, which allows middle school student to take measurements on images and videos, is presented. Using this software, students become scientists as they measure, collect and analyze data from a wide range of imagery. We demonstrate several novel techniques in image/video processing which enable students to take sophisticated measurements on a wide range of imagery. Routines which perform intelligent color segmentation and create visualizations of motion information are integrated into the software.
