Checking out produce poses problems for grocery stores and supermarkets. Many problems are associated with carrying produce, including: shrinkage (losses), slow checkout, checker training, affixing price lookup code labels, expensive packaging, solid waste. We present "VeggieVision", an automatic produce ID system intended to ease the produce checkout process. The system consists of an integrated scale and imaging system with a userfriendly interface.
