Digital Video Libraries: From Ingest to Distribution

This report details the design of a system for performing real time video annotation. The system is intended to be the front end of a video database system. The report discusses the need for such systems today and in the future. The report presents a novel architecture which combines automatic annotation techniques and user interaction in a seamless manner. It outlines the various software modules needed to build such a system. The current implementation of the annotation system is called the "Media Logger" has been tailored for archival of produced video in the Broadcast and Media Management market space.
