Database segmentation is the process of separating a data set into components that reflect a consistent pattern of behaviour. These patterns can be utilized to both deconstruct data into more understandable subsets, as well as provide sub-groups of a population for further analysis or action.

This image shows neural database segmentation weightings; these values indicate the values associated with the internal nodes in the neural network that produced the segmented database.
