A single time step from the results of an empirical simulation of a volcanic eruption (Mt. Redoubt, Alaska) on September 15, 1989 is shown. The volume of ash data is registered with a terrain map, which is pseudo-colored by altitude. The ash data are shown as a set of pseudo-colored isosurface that are color- and opacity-mapped. In this representation, both data sets are smoothed and reduced in resolution.
