Results from an ab initio calculation (Gaussian 92 TM) of electrostatic potential for an HIV-1 reverse transcriptase inhibitor. The largest positive (red-yellow) and negative (blue-purple) potentials are seen as patches of color. The use of selective transparency allows regions of interest to be highlighted. A faint dot surface is used to show the van der Waals surface on which the potential was mapped. Also seen is the molecular structure.
