
Site: The Equitable Center at 787 Seventh Avenue between 51st and 52nd Streets in New York City
Press Room: The press room will be a central resource facility for editors with credentials offering:
- Executives who will be available for one-on-one interviews
- Chess experts who can comment of the moves
- Closed circuit TVs broadcasting the match
- Analog lines for laptop hook up
- Press kits
- Phones, Faxes
- Work Spaces
- Mult box with feeds of audio from the commentators and a video mix from the match
- Private rooms for one-on-one interviews with IBM executives
- Computers with Internet access--including Deep Blue web site
- Printers
- Refreshments
Match Room: The match room itself will host the games, where Garry Kasparov will face an IBM Deep Blue Team Member with a workstation interface to IBM Deep Blue. The room will seat 20 people. In the first five to ten minutes of each game, photographers and camera crews will be permitted to take pictures and shoot footage, then will be required to leave the room. The press can individually watch the match but complete silence must be observed while in the match room.
Auditorium: The Equitable Center auditorium, which seats approximately 500 people, will be open to the general public for each game. The back of the auditorium will have platforms reserved for camera crews.
Three chess experts/commentators will provide lively color commentary of each game. The audience will be able to view the games on three huge screens which will display three different camera angles: a wide shot of the opponents; an overhead shot of the chess board; and the commentators.
Refreshments will be available outside the auditorium.
