Game 4, black
36...Nxe6
Commentary for black move 36:
YASSER SEIRAWAN: It got eaten! It got eaten! Again, Deep Blue
has just played this endgame very badly. A couple of very poor
moves again. Some of the motivation for some of these moves I
can't fathom, and so --
DB MOVE: 36 Nxe6
GK MOVE: 36...Nxe6
MAURICE ASHLEY: Kasparov has quickly recaptured. Kasparov
knows
he's in a little bit of time pressure, but it's not the kind of
position where the moves are difficult to make. That last
exchange was very, very useful and Kasparov made it quite
quickly.
YASSER SEIRAWAN: I'm trying to -- at this point I'm going into
is desperate mode for the computer. I'm trying to save the
computer's chips with the move Rb1-b4, the idea that if I can
trade off enough wood, Garry will be left with -- won't be left
with enough material to win.
MAURICE ASHLEY: We must note that Kasparov's pawn structure
is
just better enough for us to say that it's not so bad.
Especially on the side where his king is, these pawns are
connected, so that's very healthy. This isolated pawn is weak,
but it doesn't seem like a target. But this g-pawn do you owe,
Yaz, that could come under potential fire later and come into
play in a rook endgame later when the knights come off the
board.
