Game 3, black
34...g5

Commentary for black move 34: AUDIENCE MEMBER: I don't have any solutions, but I have a question. When Garry played Bb5, if he had not played the bishop to that square but instead played b4 at that point and then if Nxc4,cc, then c5 to try to undermine the pawn at d6, would that have helped his position any? Is that any possibility there?

YASSER SEIRAWAN: Thank you, Steve. By the way a little /TROEUGS Steve Shutt from Philadelphia who for years and year has produced national champions. A great coach. DB MOVE: 34...g5.

MAURICE ASHLEY: We do have a shocking move. Deep Blue has decided to get busy, as we say, and play the move g5! Whoa! And that comes as a bit of a surprise.

YASSER SEIRAWAN: Putting it mildly. Wow. For Garry, too.

MAURICE ASHLEY: Let's see what Garry is feeling now. Saying oh, boy, what's this about.
