Game 2, black
28...Ne8

Commentary for black move 28:

MIKE VALVO: Anybody think that Garry is doing okay?

YASSER SEIRAWAN: Our champions think that Garry is doing fine. Okay, although the position is let's say dodgey at best, how many think Deep Blue is going to win? So let me get this straight. You're confidence that Deep Blue has the advantage, you just don't think he's going to win? I see. How many think that Garry is going to win? Not a lot of confidence out there, erts. -- either. Probably just a lot of folks think the game is going to end in a draw.

MIKE VALVO: Is a draw possible?

YASSER SEIRAWAN: Is a draw possible? Yes. The last move. I liked Garry -- he dropped back his knight. He avoided the threat that we had been speaking of. He's also preparing to play the move Ne8-d6, or he can even be preparing a possible Bf8-e7 to try to bring this bishop out. White for his part has to determine what he wants to do on the queen-side. Does he want to resolve the conflict with a move like a4xb5?

AUDIENCE MEMBER: We have a move.

YASSER SEIRAWAN: We have a move. Excellent.

MIKE VALVO: We have two.

YASSER SEIRAWAN: We have a creepy-crawly type of move. Qf1-f2. One of the young gentlemen spoke about this move and had explained that by putting the Green on f2, we could back up the bishop with the bishop invading to b6, or even to c5. Also, this move Qf2 at the moment, it sets -- what is holding black's position together is that the queen on d8 defends the rook on a8. The move Qf2 sets up the possibility of Bd6, chasing the queen away from its protection of the a8 square. We may see the move Nd6, so that after a move like Bb6, black would have made room for its queen with the move Qe8. We may see something like this. The move Qf2, Mike, does that seem inspirational to you? Is that a good move?

MIKE VALVO: Well, probably to the computer it just increases the control over the square b6.

YASSER SEIRAWAN: Right.

MIKE VALVO: And maybe even c5 in some situations.
