Game 2, white

Commentary for white move 27:
And so it's not so much a battleground of who will get the
advantage from the opening but who will get the position that
they're best suited for.
MIKE VALVO: And that all hinges around the opening, doesn't it?
JOEL BENJAMIN: Well, a lot of it hinges around the opening. So
that makes me, you know, very up front member of the team, is
when Deep Blue does something early in the game, I'm the first
person that people look at and say, "It better be good."
YASSER SEIRAWAN: We have a gentleman in the audience who's
had
his hand up. Wait for the microphone, and we'll take your
question.
AUDIENCE MEMBER: Hi. Was it far from a purely competitive point
of view that the computer was in a position to analyze all of
Kasparov's previous games, and Kasparov was not in a position
to play the new computer's program to test its weaknesses?
JOEL BENJAMIN: Yes, it's absolutely fair. (Audience laughter.)
And to go further, I'll give you an analogy. Last year, when
the Miami Heat basketball team hired their new coach.
