Brief BiographyRamesh Natarajan received the B. Tech. (I.I.T Madras, 1978) and Ph.D (UT Austin, 1984) and was postdoctoral fellow (M.I.T., 1984-86) all in Chemical Engineering. His research interests during this period were in physico-chemical hydrodynamics and finite element modeling. In 1986-87 he was Senior Consultant for supercomputing applications (M.I.T. Information Systems Department, also jointly at Harvard University). He joined IBM Research in 1988 as Research Staff Member in the parallel applications group, and worked in the areas of parallel scientific computing, performance benchmarking, computational fluid dynamics, and statistical data mining. He has received 2 IBM Research Division Awards for benchmarking and applications enablement on the IBM SP-2 parallel computer project. In 1998, he joined the Data Analytics Research Group to focus on algorithms and applications for data mining. He is a member of SIAM and APS. |
